Devaguru Bṛhaspati Centre announces a new batch of the Jaimini Scholar Programme 2021-2025, taught by Sat Siri Khalsa and Mark Minnick.

The application is available here [Application form] and should be sent to [email protected] or [email protected]

Sat Siri Kaur Khalsa is a Jyotish guru for the Devaguru Brihaspati Center and has been teaching Jaimini classes since 2012. She has been Vice President and Provost of the Council of Vedic Astrology in USA. She has been honored as a Jyotish Medha Pragya by the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences. An honors graduate of Harvard University, she is also a devotee of Sikh Dharma and teacher of Kundalini Yoga and meditation, as taught by Yogi Bhajan.

Mark Minnick is a Certified Jaimini Scholar and a student of Pundit Sanjay Rath since 2004. He completed the Dirah Academy course as well. He holds a BFA and teacher certification from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters degree in Education from SUNY Fredonia in New York.

Since graduating he has taught for 24 years in the public school system both in Westfield New York and in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a devotee of Paramahamsa Yogananda and Self Realization Fellowship, receiving Kriya initiation in 1981.

About the Course

Jaimini’s Upadesa Sutras is a priceless classic further explaining many of the techniques found in Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra (BPHS), the foundation book of Vedic Astrology. The word “Upadesa” (“instructions from the master”) tells us that the sutras are the teachings of the tradition coming down from Parashara. Jaimini has extended the light of Maharshi Parashara, adding insights which would not otherwise be understood. Jaimini’s profound meta-mind expands and completes Parashara’s masterpiece.

The Jaimini Scholar program is a five-year course studying the sutras individually and unpacking their layers of meaning. It has been created by the outstanding modern-day Pandit, Sanjay Rath, who is descended from a line of traditional jyotishis going back to Sri Acyutananda, one of the five disciples of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Students of any religious background (or none!) will benefit from the deeply spiritual approach to learning taught in this course. For example, Guru Nanak was inspired to write the Aarti after visiting the Jagannath temple in Orissa in 1506. Nanak composed the pofound hymn after witnessing the pandits do the evening pooja. Those who enter the course will be learning from a sacred tradition handed down over more than 500 years. This is a rare opportunity to attain the highest certification in Jyotiṣa taking a profound path of awakening and knowledge.

Each year of the Jaimini program relates to one of the four Vedas and is taught as its own complete module. This program will take participants much deeper into their astrological studies as well as integrating jyotish with every area of life. The spirituality of the Vedas as expressed in the jyotish classics is the core strength of the program.

Successful participants may request from the mentors to be certified by the Devaguru Brihaspati Center as Jaimini Scholars.

Year 1 involves 28 principal lessons and several subsidiary lessons. The classes will be taught primarily online as webinars every two or three weeks. Much of the learning will be self-paced and can be done with flexible scheduling. There will be a contact course once each year for a long weekend, which participants are required to attend, as certain mantra teachings can be given only in person. The group will receive the same lessons as the Scholars who have studied in person with Pt. Rath, using his recordings originally given in the Himalayas, as well as supplementary material provided by the mentor. Each lesson is illustrated with detailed PowerPoint slides. This is a wonderful format to spread this valuable knowledge throughout the world.

Classes will be starting in March 2021; pre-lessons will begin as soon as you are accepted.

Contact Classes

The 2021 contact class will be held at a location to be announced in the Rocky Mountains of the US West, in New Mexico or Colorado.

Fees

The course fee is US$1600 per calendar year payable before classes begin. Or payment can be made by four quarterly instalments of $440.

In addition, the fee for access to online recorded classes is 200 Euros (about US$225) per year, payable upon acceptance to the course. This access is a requirement of the course.

Also the costs of travel and lodging and food for the contact class each of the five years is paid by the students, and a Daksina towards the costs of the mentors during the contact class is much appreciated.
